Lebanon Youth Association of the Blind

An estimated 10-15 percent of Lebanon’s 6.082 million people have a physical, sensory, intellectual or mental disability. These conditions are experienced by around 10 percent of refugees who have fled Palestine (since1947); by 8 percent of  Palestinian refugees from Syria and by between 10-23 percent of refugees who have fled Syria since 2011.

Keeping Children Safe has worked closely with the Youth Association of the Blind (YAB), a rights-based, national non-governmental organisation founded in 1988.

YAB participated in a KCS workshop in Beirut to help local organisations develop their safeguarding policies and procedures. As a result, YAB has a comprehensive safeguarding policy covering children and adults at risk of harm.

Child safeguarding in India

Keeping Children Safe is strengthening the awareness and capacity of civil society organisations to enhance policy development and the effective implementation of child safeguarding measures in Asia. We conducted two workshops with 25 child safeguarding focal points  from civil society organisations from India and neighbouring countries.

KCS also participated in a consultation meeting in Chennai (South Regional NGO consultation) to discuss and provide feedback to strengthen the Government of India’s draft National Child Protection Policy.

For more than three years, we have also worked closely with Oak Foundation grantees in India, assisting 24 organisations to develop and strengthen their child safeguarding policy and procedures.

We are here to help

If your organisation works for and with children, then it is high time to check if you have put rigorous child safeguarding measures in place – starting from the top of the organisation, right down to your field staff and outside suppliers. Prevention, after all, is better than lives destroyed because of abuse.

If you have already used our free self-assessment tool, and would like to discuss details of the results with a team member, do get in touch as soon as possible.
