Carano 4 Children joins the KCS network

A warm welcome

We would like to welcome our latest member, the Carano 4 Children Foundation. Carano organises cultural activities such as concerts, events, workshops, art & science competitions for children and teenagers, as well as partnering with organisations that work with socially vulnerable children, such as UNICEF, Action for Children in Conflict, Charity May, Meyer Foundation, Oasis, MUS-E, Fondazione Pianoterra and children’s hospitals. KCS is looking forward to supporting them in strengthening their safeguarding measures and participation in the network and future events.

We asked Carano a few introductory questions to share with their fellow KCS members’ network:

What made you decide to become a KCS member?

The Carano 4 Children non-profit foundation’s mission is to help children in need – in particular orphans and abandoned children – to develop their creativity and skills via art and science. That is why we decided to become a KCS member, in order to ensure that all children and young people involved in our initiatives and activities have a safe and healthy development into adulthood, and do not get exposed to abuse.

By joining the KCS members’ network, the foundation aims to strengthen its safeguarding measures in order to meet International Child Safeguarding Standards.

What is your key driver to implement child safeguarding?

Every child supported by the foundation deserves to be happy, to have hope for the future, to be able to make a positive contribution to society, in a healthy environment and to have the opportunity to develop his/her creative, artistic and scientific capacities to the fullest.

All children and teenagers involved in the Foundation’s activities, projects and programmes have the right:

  • to have their health, safety and well-being, and their best interests considered as top priority;
  • to have their development promoted and safeguarded so that they can achieve their full potential;
  • to be valued, respected and understood within the context of their own culture, religion and ethnicity;
  • to be listened to and to have their views given careful consideration;
  • to be encouraged and helped to participate in decisions which affect them, including in child protection decisions.

Where do you think your organisation will be in a year?

Regarding child safeguarding, we expect that in a year the foundation will have addressed its main risks and will have strengthened its child safeguarding, which will put the rights, the dignity, and safety of children at the heart of every decision we take.

In addition, we plan to complete the certification process based on the International Child Safeguarding Standards in order to demonstrate our foundation’s commitment to protecting children from harm and exploitation.

What message do you want to tell your staff, donors and the wider world?

Carano was created with the objective to help children in need, to contribute to their balanced development, and psycho-physical well-being through artistic and scientific education.

In order to reach these solidarity objectives, the foundation aims to create a safe environment for children by implementing child safeguarding procedures that are applied across the foundation’s staff, operations.
