Centre for Advancement of Human Empowerment and Development (CAHED) is a Kenya-based organisation dedicated to promoting transformative, sustainable and locally led development through innovative solutions. Working closely with children, young people and vulnerable communities, CAHED sees child safeguarding as ‘not an optional but a fundamental responsibility’.

The organisation decided to join the KCS Network to strengthen its child safeguarding practices through global collaboration, shared learning and access to international best practices. By becoming a member, CAHED aims to further enhance its safeguarding systems, reinforce accountability and build a stronger culture of child protection across its programmes and partnerships.

The team is currently working to ensure that child safeguarding is embedded throughout all organisational operations. Over the next year, CAHED aims to strengthen its safeguarding policies, increase staff awareness and training, improve reporting and response mechanisms and deepen the integration of safeguarding across all programmes. Additionally, their representative expressed they are aiming to ‘strengthen community awareness on child protection and establish safeguarding as a core value embedded in our organisational culture and operations’.

Their message to the world is simple and powerful: ‘We are committed to creating safe spaces where children and vulnerable individuals are protected, heard and empowered. Together, we can build a culture of protection, accountability and respect for every child’.

We are delighted to welcome CAHED to our global community and look forward to supporting the positive impact they will create for children and communities in Kenya.
