Hatima Yetu is a community-driven and evidence-based initiative focused on promoting empowerment, safety, health and resilience.

The organisation decided to join KCS Members Network to strengthen their commitment to safeguarding and ‘be part of a global community of practice that promotes learning, accountability, and shared safeguarding standards’ – as their representative expressed.

The team at Hatima Yetu is working to fully embed child safeguarding practices into their programmes and operations. They aim to strengthen their policies and procedures, provide continuous training to staff and volunteers and develop their culture of accountability and transparency.

Within the next year, they also hope to launch a structured capacity-building initiative targeting schools and institutions to raise awareness and strengthen practical capacity on child safeguarding and the safeguarding of adults at risk. Their representative explained: ‘Through this initiative, we aim to extend safeguarding standards beyond our organisation and contribute to safer institutional and community environments.’

Their message to the community is clear: ‘ Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and a non-negotiable standard in our work.’

We look forward to working hand-in-hand with Hatima Yetu and see their next steps.
