We’d like to say a big hello to Viva Juntos (El Salvador), and welcome them to our Keeping Victims and Survivors Safe Programme.
Viva Juntos is a foundation committed to the protection and restitution of the rights of Salvadoran girls, boys. It is a non-profit, Christian organization, which accompanies children and adolescents living in social and family risk situations, through a human rights approach.
As always, we like to post a news story about new members, and promote the organisation amongst the KCS network and online following.
By Ada García, CEO of Viva Juntos:
What made you decide to join the KCS members’network?
Considering the population that we accompany: children and youth and families living in high social, family and sometimes environmental risk, we need to be updated in new methodologies for more effective accompaniment.
What is your key driver to implement child safeguarding?
Viva Juntos Por la Niñez is a non-governmental organization registered in the Public Registry of Entities for Attention to Children and Adolescents of the National Council for Children and Adolescents, providing accompaniment to the population in four communities of the Metropolitan area located at high social and family risk and NNAJ and families using 3 markets in the metropolitan area of San Salvador. We currently work from three large programs:
- Birth registration in the preventive and restitution of rights areas.
- Specialized Protection for NNAJ in connection with the street.
- Prevention.
Where do you think your organisation will be regarding child safeguarding in a year?
Viva will have high Standards for the Protection of children at the Organizational level and will seek to internalize them to institutional personnel, Board of Directors and volunteer personnel. It will multiply this knowledge to leaders of Community Organizations and Markets.
What message do you want to tell your staff, donors and the wider world?
We have the immense opportunity to accompany the lives of girls, boys, adolescents and their families living at high social and family risk with a Human Rights approach in which the prevention of harm and crimes against their lives occupies a priority place and that this accompaniment be in harmony with the Word of God.
